When Social Media, Travel, & Shopping Mix Together

It’s been a fun couple of months using my Tilt 2 phone to write to you about using the Tilt 2 for travel, social media, and now shopping. Now, back to social media, travel, and shopping. One of the blogs I follow, FreeIsMyLife.com, recently wrote a post about an article she read in CondeNast entitled “How to Tweet Your Way To Amazing Travel Deals,” by Wendy Perrin. Wendy wrote about about how 450 people were able to buy tickets to Europe for $250 (including taxes) due to reading Rick Sneaney, CEO of Farecast’s, tweet. It turns out it was a glitch in Delta’s systems and they didn’t catch it until the next day but 450 people snagged a great deal as a result. Several travel companies are offering time-sensitive deals to their loyal followers on Twitter. So if you love to travel, save money, and don’t mind indulging in social media, you’re on your way to finding some good deals.
Thanks to Wendy Perrin’s article, FreeIsMyLife and Twitter lists, it will be easy to keep track of possible good deals on Twitter. Wendy Perrin mentioned a number of great travel sites to follow in her article. FreeIsMyLife.com took it one step further and created a Twitter list for you to follow. Like anything, if you want to find a good deal, you need to keep at it. The companies aren’t going to advertise awesome deals all the time on Twitter, but if your timing is right, there will be some good gems to find. The travel list includes United, Virgin America, Pleasant Holidays, Hertz, TravelZoo, AirFareWatchDog, and many others.
