Chatting on Windows Live Messenger

Remember how I connected to the Microsoft Marketplace yesterday and downloaded Windows Live Messenger yesterday? Actually, the package that I downloaded was a single application that consists of the Messenger chat client as well as the built-in ability to check for e-mails in my Hotmail account.
Well, I am out today, and I decided to sign-on to Windows Live Messenger and spend some time catching up with a few friends while on-the-go. So what was my experience like?
Overall, I found the keyboard of the HTC Tilt 2 to yield an incredibly comfortable typing experience. The ability to tilt the display at a comfortable angle while the phone is seated on the desktop or table also proved to be priceless. Regardless of where I was, the bright display was an asset in making my experience a pleasant one – be it in a dimly lit cafe, or along a sunny boulevard.
On the flip side, the amount of message log that I can see without scrolling when chatting is relatively short. This was due to the landscape orientation, and it was honestly not that much of a deal to scroll back. Still, it proved an additional step that will probably take me some time to get used to.
On the plus side, the use of a tabbed chat interface means it is very easy to maintain a few conversations simultaneously. This was also where the arrow keys – missing from popular smartphones such as the BlackBerry and iPhones, truly shines. It was a simple matter to toggle between various conversations by pressing on the arrow key.
In a nutshell, the ability to tilt the display at a comfortable angle, the brightness of the screen, and the spacious keyboard worked in tandem to make the HTC Tilt 2 a very comfortable platform for using IM.
