JANINENICKEL'S POSTS

for janinenickel

Can it do that? Yes it can. And I can explain it...sortof.

I was over at a friend's house and he was asking how the Lose the Laptop campaign was going. I told him it was great but it was winding down so if he wanted to know something we should test it now.

Then I had an idea...
This is a very old friend and he knows when I have ideas it's a good idea to run.

My idea: video him asking me what he wanted to know about the phone.
His answer.
No.

But we did put his idea to the test and the Tilt2 passed with flying colors!

And then I had the brilliant idea to video ME explaining the test.

It was a true test of multi-tasking with the Tilt2. Watch the video, and then please remember to remind me....when I have good idea, run.

Tools that make you go aaaaahhhh

Tools that make you go aaaaahhhh

I recently discovered the HTC Tilt2 toolbox (say that 10 times fast).

It is, not surprisingly, under "Tools" (yes, the lovely folks at AT&T recognized my genius early on).

But these are not the kinds of tools I was expecting! These tools are unlike anything I've seen before. These tools don't have rubber grips and they aren't named after 80's rappers who can dance and now preach.

No, these tools are USEFUL.

Here's a quick rundown:

Quick GPS - speed up the amount of time it takes to determine your GPS position by downloading the latest satellite information.

Remote Desktop Mobile - connect to your home or office PC, access applications, files, and the network like you would if you were sitting in front of it, minus the bunny slippers. How flippin cool?

JETCET Print 5 - um...print? From a mobile phone?? Yes. You. Can. The HTC Tilt 2 and JetCet Print 5 let's you print documents, photos, email and more. You can easily add a printer and browse files then  print without additional software.

FM Radio - at the gym and not enjoying the TVs or the music pumping in from the spinning class? Grab your HTC Tilt2 wired headset and enjoy local FM radio as the headset cord acts as an antenna.

Notes - Y'all know from this post how much I love my sticky notes so I was thrilled to see a familiar yellow image. But these notes are even better...these little notes I can email!

Enjoying my take on the HTC Tilt2? Remember to click that little "VOTE" button up at the top and leave a comment (so I can thank you). If I win...you have a chance of winning too! This month's prize is $5,000 so vote daily!

Look Grandma! We forgot the camera!

This has been a summer of many firsts for us.
Specifically when it comes to swimming.

This is our first year on the 'real' swim team...the one with real meets, real races, and real ribbons.
And for most of them 'we' have left our cameras at home.

And by 'we', I mean my husband...clearly.

I'm the one that has to remember to bring the swim caps, goggles, snacks for the swimmers, snacks for the parents, snacks to sell at the concession stand, towels (don't forget the towels!), bottles of water for the 100 degree days we've had...and just about everything else that goes into it.

The husband is in charge of the cameras (still and video).

The husband has also be very busy at work (a good thing) and so I've done my best to try to remember the cameras too.

But I'm human.
And luckily AT&T and my HTC Tilt2 know that.
So THANK YOU to both of you for giving me a chance to redeem myself.

Because Grandma does not like being left out.
Grandma does not like being left out of the many firsts which is the ONLY reason she signed up for Facebook (and we all know how much Grandma likes Facebook from this Lose the Laptop post).

Thank you HTC for including a 3.2 mega pixel camera on the Tilt2 that not only takes great quality photos, but great quality video that can easily be emailed, or uploaded to Facebook...where Grandma can see the firsts 'we' otherwise would have not been able to capture.

Ever play that game Hot and Cold?

Ever play that game Hot and Cold?

You know the one where you are looking for something and someone knows where it is and says, "you're getting warmer....warmer....warmer, wait, colder...." as you annoyingly search for it?

Yea, it's a fun game, for about 2 minutes. And then you just want to know where it is!

Hot and Cold is a game we used to play with a laptop as we drove up and down the New Jersey Turnpike.

You know those, 'special' videos I wrote about the other day? In the past, my husband and I would spend an hour getting off onto this exit or that exit looking for a Wi-Fi hotspot so that we could download one of those videos, check email, and otherwise check-in for work.

Does this sound familiar?
"Wait honey! I think there's a Starbucks at Exit 8!"

I'm happy to report that thanks to the Tilt2 and AT&T Wi-Fi Hotspot Locator, you won't find us aimlessly driving around the great state of New Jersey...as much as I love it, and love to Bump It.

You can see from the photos I took, the Hotspot Locator gives you a choice of venues (Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, McDonald's, and more) and allows you to search on city, state and ZIP. Add in my mother's personal favorite, the AT&T Navigator application, and you'll be able to follow the trail to HOT quicker than you can say 'Marco Polo'. But that's another game, and another post.

Sometimes we take for granted the little things...like sticky notes

Sometimes we take for granted the little things...like sticky notes

Think about it.
What did we do before we had sticky notes?
How in the world did we attach notes on documents so that people could see our thoughts on a certain topic, where to sign, or that we approved the final version?

Did we use something as barbaric as.....STAPLES? Staples make holes in things!!

How in the world did husband and wife communicate before sticky notes?
Are you telling me they TALKED in the morning about the schedule for the day? They gave each other reminders in person? Surely you jest.

This is how I feel about being able to write a document and attach it to an email with my HTC Tilt2.

You mean I used to have to WAIT until I got home and got to my laptop before I could compose and send an email with an attached document? For that matter, I had to wait until I got to my laptop to even compose the document???

Because the past few months I've been able to jot down meeting notes down, to-do lists, create a spreadsheet, even create a proposal and share it via email -  all from my phone....at the doctor's office, in the car, on the pool deck at swim team practice, or at the library (see photo - that's my Books I want to Read list I created on a, what else, sticky note).

Wait, I just had an awful thought.
Are some of YOU still waiting until you get home to send an email with an attachment??

My heart goes out to you.
But you can change that!

You can vote for me here and leave a comment telling AT&T why you want an HTC Tilt2 and you just might win $5,000!
